The oldest bar in Custer is a wildly good ‘ol time. The Gold Pan Saloon probably dates back to the 1880s-1890s, so it’s inevitable that you’ll feel uber authentic western vibes when you walk through the infamous swinging doors. Now the classic establishment has a cabin feel, with cowhide barstools and plaid upholstered chairs. Along with drinks are limited delicious bar food items. Live music on the first and third Saturday of the month.


A chef-driven concept, Skogen Kitchen offers innovative breakfast and dinner options. The owners have worked and learned from some of the best companies in the food service industry, like Disney and the Patina Restaurant group.Skogen means “the forest” in Norwegian, and is a nod to their heritage and surroundings. Their menu is influenced from other cultures, as well. Items include must-haves like the Suckling Pig with toasted buckwheat, peach, watermelon, and balsamic buttermilk jus.The quaint eatery, which seats a small crowd, so be sure to make a reservation.


This BBQ joint is open until they sell out so come for the best pork BBQ sandwiches in the state and a laid-back atmosphere.


Enjoy simple comfort foods such as chili and mac and cheese in sourdough bread bowls, and relax at the back patio with live music.
